Current Lab Members

Graeme Cowan

Graeme Cowan

PI

Graeme is a lecturer in biotechnology at the University of Edinburgh. His research interests are malaria vaccine development, studing the aetiology of rheumatoid arthritis and developing new technologies to characterise humoral immune responses, by combining molecular biology techniques and bioinformatics approaches.

Natasha Smith

Natasha Smith

PhD Student

Natasha is a PhD student on the Wellcome Trust Human Pathogens and Global Health PhD programme. She is using repertoire sequencing and other immunological techniques to study the immune response to malaria to aid vaccine design.

Catherine Heylings

Catherine Heylings

MScR

Catherine is developing de-novo mass spectrometry-based techniques to characterise serum antibody responses to specific malaria antigens. Combining this information with next generation sequencing data using bioinformatics allows us to functionally annotate BCR repertoire sequence datasets.

Lab Alumni

Noramon Dron

MSc Bionformatics 2017

Noramon developed efficient algorithms to cluster B and T cell repertoire sequencing data. This software is used to identify clonally-related sequences in very large datasets.

Naeramit Sontayananon

MSc Biotechnology 2017

Naeramit worked on the development of reagents for CRISP-Cas9 genome editing that provided increased versatility over commercially available solutions.
